COMPETE is a non-profit workforce development program that helps you access a historically untapped pool of qualified - and diverse - candidates. These candidates have the significant technical training required to perform entry-level software development, cybersecurity, and IT support jobs. STEMatch provides the soft skills training needed to succeed in your company. Created by business people, for business - STEMatch COMPETE began as an experiment by tech delivery and tech-user companies such as IBM, Mimecast, State Street Bank and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Tech execs evaluated the cybersecurity curriculum at MassBay Community College - and interviewed and assessed students’ “hireability”, to determine if community colleges (which are majority/minority) could be a scalable talent feeder for tech jobs.
The tech execs’ unanimous conclusion? Yes, community college students CAN be effective entry-level hires, with additional work skills training, mentoring, and internship experience.
